Dr. Rehan Shamim
Dr. Rehan Syed Shamim is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and hip.
He graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in economics before receiving his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. During his time at Rutgers, Dr. Shamim was elected president of his medical school class and elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
After medical school, Dr. Shamim completed his fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, where he gained expertise in arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, knee, and hip. He then completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in Philadelphia, PA.
Before joining The Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey, Dr. Shamim worked as an assistant team physician for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). During his time at the university, he treated many Olympic, professional, and NCAA Division I athletes. Dr. Shamim has also held a teaching position at The Promise Clinic in New Brunswick, NJ.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
